South Glens Falls Parent University Presents: Respectful Interactions-Talk About It to STOP Bullying

October 14, 2015 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Respectful Interactions:
Talk About It to STOP Bullying

Talk About It to STOP Bullying is a parent-centered campaign designed to build parental awareness of bullying victimization in middle and elementary school children, and to foster an open dialogue to help victimized children cope, encourage bystanders to act, and redirect the energy of the bully to a more productive and meaningful endeavor.
Parents can have a positive effect on their children’s attitudes toward others to encourage respect, courage to do the right thing and speak up, and foster an anti-bullying mentality at home that ideally carries over into their interactions at school and in the community.  Parents can also help their children cope with bullying and the effects on a child’s psyche to reduce potential long term effects of childhood bullying.  With open and honest discussions about bullying, parents and children can work together to create a healthy and safe environment for all.

Theresa Felton, Manager of Wellness and Safety at Jaeger & Flynn Associates, Inc., is a South Glens Falls mom.  She developed the Talk About It to STOP Bullying program as part of her coursework toward earning a M.S. in Health Promotion.
