SARATOGA SPRINGS — The Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention Council of Saratoga County will host its fourth annual Dare to Dream Gala at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The gala’s guest-of-honor wil be local resident and retired jockey Robbie Davis.

Each year, the Prevention Council holds the aptly named gala to send the message:  “Dare to dream” of a world without alcoholism or substance abuse.” The event celebrates the mission and work of the Prevention Council, whose mission is to give young people the skills to choose healthy behaviors, provide families with the tools to foster positive child development, help communities build family-friendly environments, and help schools build supportive climates for students.

This year, at the 30th anniversary gala, the council will welcome Davis as a special guest and role model who embodies the organization’s commitment to its mission statement.

Monday night, guests will hear Davis’ inspirational story. Following Davis’ speech, guests will spend the evening dining and dancing to live entertainment by Soul Session featuring Garland Nelson.

Guests will get a chance to indulge in hors d’oeuvres and Mediterranean, summer bounty and retro malt shop food stations.

The gala will also feature a live auction with prizes including brunch for 10 at the Hall of Springs, a behind-the-scenes experience with Jessica Layton of WNYT and a year-long parking space in The Saratogian parking lot.

Tickets for the “Dare to Dream” gala cost $75 and can be purchased at www.preventioncouncil.org. For more information, call 581-1230.
