Primary Early Interventions
Individualized Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment
Teen Intervene is designed as a comprehensive screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment (SBIRT) model of care. Teenagers who have experienced mild to moderate problems associated with alcohol or drug use work one-to-one with an addiction treatment counselor to identify and, ultimately, change their choices and behaviors.
Alternative-to-Suspension
Healthy Futures, an Alternative-to-Suspension program, developed by the Stanford REACH Lab
Healthy Futures is geared for students who have been found using nicotine, cannabis and/or for any students who are interested in trying to quit. This program includes a self-paced lesson, a 2- or 4-hour teacher or counselor-led curriculum, quitting resources, and possible referral to treatment.
As a best practice, we would recommend that our curriculum be used as an educational opportunity in lieu of a suspension (alternative to suspension) for first time offenses, but if your policies/procedures require a student to be suspended (and those policies cannot be amended), we would strongly encourage you to provide our Healthy Futures intervention as an educational support in addition to the suspension.

Student Assistance Services
The Prevention Council offers counseling services in various schools throughout Saratoga County via its Student Assistance Program and General Counseling Programs. The purpose of both programs is to provide treatment and early intervention counseling services to at-risk youth in participating school districts. Students can seek out counselors on their own, or they may be referred by school personnel. Any school district can contract with the Prevention Council for counseling services for any and all grade levels, Pre-K-12.
