CLIFTON PARK, NY – Residents in Clifton Park got a chance to safely get rid of their expired prescriptions Saturday morning, before they fall into the wrong hands.
The event was part of ‘National Prescription Drug Take Back Day’ sponsored by the DEA.
News 10 caught up with the executive director of the Pharmacists Society who told us why this event is especially important for keeping teenagers safe.
“Every 19 minutes someone dies in this country from prescription drug abuse and a lot of them are teenagers they think because is legal and its just not the case,” said Executive Director Craig Burridge.
The prescription drug take back program took place at more than 5,000 sites across the country.
