Below are resources we frequently turn to for factual and current information.

Mental Health

NAMI - National Alliance on Mental Illness

Provides advocacy, education, and support for individuals and families affected by mental illness. Offers resources for parents and youth, including education programs, peer support, school navigation, leadership opportunities, and crisis support.

SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration)

Resources for mental health and substance use treatment, prevention, recovery and crisis support. The site includes a treatment locator and guidance for communities.

Rise Support Services

Safe, healthy housing for people in need of extra support (including case management, socioemotional and healthcare coordination of services) while they focus on their recovery and/or mental health needs.

Saratoga Center for the Family

Provides advocacy, education and mental health therapy to help reduce the effects of abuse, neglect and trauma on children and their families.  The agency offers a child advocacy center that coordinates services through child abuse investigations, child abuse prevention and education programs and mental health services.

The New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports oversees one of the nation’s largest addiction services systems, which encompasses nearly 1600 prevention, treatment, and recovery programs.

Stamford Medicine REACH Lab

REACH: Research and Education to Empower Adolescents and Young Adults to Choose Health

The Halpern-Felsher REACH lab focuses on understanding and reducing adolescent and young adult substance use (including electronic cigarettes, cigarettes, alcohol, and marijuana), risky sexual behavior, and risky driving. We also develop, implement, and evaluate interventions, using pre-post tests and randomized control trials. Our research spans several age groups, including children, adolescents, young adults, and parents.

The YOU Decide project provides resources and information that aim to empower youth to make healthy choices regarding their gambling behaviors, and to prepare communities to work together to prevent underage gambling and reduce youth access to gambling.

Wellspring

Support for those impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, elder abuse and teen dating violence.  Additionally, the agency provides professional training, community programming and educational classes.

Captain Community Human Services

Provides support for individuals and families of all ages, including help with basic needs, immediate and longer-term housing, crisis intervention, youth and family services, and senior support. Emergency assistance is available for food, rent, and utilities.

Franklin Community Center

Project Lift: Free after-school prevention program for grades 1–6 offering education on drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and gambling, plus school, holiday, and summer support
